Basq Restaurant

About Us

basq opened its doors in December 2013 after the redevelopment of Currambine Central. Owner manager Kristian Dunne was inspired to bring the bustling tapas bar scene and rustic food of Spain to Currambine.
The inspiration for basq comes from the region Basque, an area that reaches over the border of both Spain and France. This is where Spanish tapas originated, although the food is also heavily influenced by French flavours and cooking techniques.
At basq our executive head chef has passionately developed a hearty and flavoursome menu. The menu changes seasonally so that the team at basq can create fresh and delicious meals using what nature intends. Our seafood arrives daily and we pride ourselves on using only the finest local produce and products.
Our extensive menu is complimented by a wine list with some local favourites and international surprises. basq’s cocktail list has been thoughtfully compiled by owner Kristian and Nick Welch, a well known identity in Melbourne’s bar scene.
basq is a place where people gather to enjoy good food and good company. A place to relax and enjoy life. We are more than happy to cater for your next get together or Christmas party.
With an extensive tapas menu and set with a warm urban and industrial feel, basq stands apart from other eatery’s in the Northern Suburbs.
Our guests can enjoy a range of items on the menu, so whether you are passing by for a quick meal, want a hearty chargrilled steak or tapas to share before going into the cinema, Kris and the friendly front of house staff will be more than happy to accommodate you.
